Edward VIII is most famous for his abdication, less than a year after being crowned King, in 1936. But what happened afterwards is where the true scandal lies. This revealing new documentary shows the extent of the Duke of Windsor’s treachery during WW2.

Using never before seen findings the film explores how Edward was complicit in a plan to reinstall him as monarch in the event of Nazi victory. New documents have led eminent historians to believe that the Dukewas passing wartime information to known spies and calling for Britain to be bombed into submission while an unearthed BBC broadcast -played for the first time- shows Edward calling for peace between Britain and Germany weeks before the outbreak of war. Post-war, there was a shocking establishment cover-up of the whole affair, involving Churchill. Wallis Simpson was always painted as the villain of the piece, but in this film, we show how this conveniently drew attention and scrutiny away from Edward.

Featuring brand-new documents and evidence, home movies filmed after the war that have never been broadcast before, colourised archive as well as interviews with experts and personal friends speaking publicly for the very first time, the film – produced and directed by Emmy nominated Marion Milne – presents the case that the Duke went beyond merely sympathising with the enemy to actively collaborating.
